A Q&A with Bob Cerullo
Q
Tell me a little bit about yourself?
A
I was born and raised in New York City. Graduated from Seton Hall University then entered the army as a medic. I married Marilynne Mannix an RN and we have three children and three grandchildren. We moved to Deltaville about 10 years ago to be near my son’s family, then the rest of the family followed.
Q
Tell me about your radio background?
A
I created a show called the Auto Show on WWOR radio and a similar show on the WABC radio network. I was a regular guest on the John Gambling Rambling Gambling and several TV shows. I have been a guest on the David Letterman show.
I have written articles for several magazines including Parade, Readers Digest, Popular Science, Bay Splash, House and Home, LI Boating World and others I am a staff member of Motor Magazine. I wrote a book titled: What’s Wrong With My Car.
Q
What is it about radio that is appealing to you?
A
I like the fact that radio allows the guest to talk and develop the story as opposed to the three or four-minute sound bites on TV. Radio can be with you anywhere and you need not stop working to enjoy it.
Q
Are there any radio experiences you would like to share?
A
I was doing a remote at Bloomingdale’s Department store in NYC when a woman came up who was obviously blind. She said she listened to my car show every week. When I asked why she wanted to know about cars since she could not drive, she said I love cars, I love to be in the passenger’s seat and I like to know what is happening. Another instance an older woman who said she did not drive told me she listened every Sunday. When I asked why, since she did not drive, she said I have something to talk to my sons that they like to talk about.
Q
Why do you love music?
A
I think it helps me relax and think about places I have been and music brings back great memories.
Q
Are there any music experiences you would like to share?
such as a concert that sticks out in your mind,
or meeting a favorite singer/songwriter?
A
I have met Tony Bennett at his concert in Richmond and Smoky Robinson in the green room at the David Letterman Show.
