Frederick Johnson and I host a “Community Talk Show” on Tuesday afternoons at 4 p.m. Why? And what are we trying to do? It really is simple: to bring our community together. That sounds too simple, doesn’t it? There has to be something else, a sales pitch? O.K, I get that. Especially in this high-tech era, where we have everything we need at our fingertips, but also most things cost money and we are willing to pay for that computer app. as it will enlighten us or our children for a few seconds, that 1-3 dollars well spent, or is it? For argument’s sake, what if we could change that. What if our little community radio station, located right here in White Stone, Va. could help you engage with your community. Talk about topics that matter to us right here in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula, and it would not cost a cent? Now it may seem old-fashioned, certainly not high tech, but ask yourself – do you miss connection? We certainly do, and that is why we are here. Just us. A real live radio program for you, with a real local guest or guests just talking for an hour or more. Frederick and I want to bring our community closer. We have no agenda, just open discussions. We want you to reach out to us, tell us what is important, how we can help. Oh no, we certainly are not experts or perfect, but we imperfectly started this show, and can only be humbled by the guests we have hosted and the valuable information they have shared with our community. Our Tuesday’s have been remarkable. We are incredibly thankful to those who have joined us. In our little radio cafe….
And a song. Because there is always is a song. And this one sums up our weekly show:
“Oh, it seemed like a holy place,
protected by amazing grace,
and we would sing right out loud,
the things we could not say.
We thought we could change this world,
with words like “love” and “freedom.
We were part of the lonely crowd,
Inside the Sad Cafe.
