Music and New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve is only a few days away, and you know what that means?

Disco.

Yes, I feel New Years should be festive. I mean, on this magical night we have the opportunity to reflect, take a look back, assess how we did, then promise ourselves that the next year will be better. BRIGHTER, more productive, more fun. We promise we will laugh more, be present, giving of ourselves, and in my case, as always, dance more. Disco helps make that part a reality, it also can help with the ongoing resolution of living healthier, as it is a fabulous form of exercise.

Four on the floor got it!

I have loved disco music for as long as I can remember. I had a fantastic pair of John Travolta flares, and who doesn’t try to dance just like him, I do not care how old you are. The Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack is still one of my top 10 favorites. It is one of those albums you can put on, and feel instantly recharged, and blissfully happy. It is also contagious, as anyone who is in the room with you while you are playing the album will start to dance. It may take a minute, but try it and watch, I dare you. Do not even get me started with Donna Summer, the mistress of disco herself. (And yes, I still call them albums, always will can’t help it.)

At Windy 103.9 FM I have been toying with the idea of holding a Saturday night disco party once or twice a month, but would love to hear your thoughts? Do you miss that irresistible disco sound or do you have a glitter ball hiding in your attic just waiting to re-emerge? Turn it on, baby!
“The champion of dance, his moves would put you in a trance.” (Sister Sledge, come on!)

In the meantime, prepare yourself for some New Years fun!

“Up above my head, I hear music in the air. That makes me know, there’s a party somewhere.”

We'd love to hear from you!
